We have all the classic Shanghai dishes, including "steamed stinky tofu", which is awesome. Yellow bean soup was outstanding, it was simmered for ten hours!
It is hot today, with the mercury reaching 40 celsius. A major storm is brewing off the coast and we could see the first typhoon soon. Despite the heat, I still manage to play two hours of tennis (single!) every morning, and I drink gallons of water.
Sounds like you really enjoy the food here very much. Are you having 3 meals outside daily??
ReplyDeleteWow, better watch out your weight!!
By the way, Barry hosting a hole-in-one (No.15 at Royal Cowlood) dinner next Wednesday 8/12 at Sampan. Want to join us?

Yup. Wife loves it, no more cooking. Frankie loves oatmeal, so we have breakfast at home sometimes. Yes, I'm eating like a pig, but I also play two hours of tennis everyday in the heat, helps to balance my intake/output.
ReplyDeleteI do miss our men's night, hope you guys have fun. Looking forward to our group vacation in November.
It is all a change! No more Beatles music with the boys, eh? You must do what is best for your family, -especially Frankie. I was in Hualien in 1971 and loved it! Yup, it was very hot even back then and a special place to visit. So much has changed after 37 years...
ReplyDeleteHi Queenie,
ReplyDeleteYup, I do miss our Tuesday nites playing music with the boys. We did film some of our songs and compiled many videos, posted at youtube for old time sake. I finally thought of a name for our band: secret Asian men. There is a separate blog here and a link to the videos...
